How do I get to the hostel?

The closest airport is the San Diego International Airport (SAN). To get to the hostel from the airport: 

To get to Gaslamp Hostel, you can take a taxi, Uber, or Lyft usually for under $20. 

 

For public transportation, hop on the 992 bus at the airport. Get off at the Broadway and 6th Street stop. Walk back one block to 5th Avenue, cross the street and turn left. Once you pass F Street keep looking to your right. We are the purple door just past the Asti restaurant at 726 5th Avenue. If you walk all the way to Whiskey Girl then you have passed us. 

The current cost of the bus is $2.50. You must have exact fair or you can use a credit card or the Pronto App.

By Train 

To get to us from the train, please be sure to get off at the Santa Fe Depot (not Old Town). 

When you exit the station turn right, go to the corner and turn left onto Broadway. Walk down Broadway until you get to 5th Avenue and turn right. We are two and half blocks down on the right at 726 5th Avenue. We are above the Panevino and Asti restaurants. Please see the photos of the location that were sent with your confirmation. 

If you are at G Street then you've gone too far. 

You can also take the 215 or 280 or 290 Bus from Broadway and Kettner and get off at 5th Avenue. Then follow the directions above.

By Car

If you decide to rent a car at the airport, please be aware that parking can be tough downtown and will cost you money. See below for parking info!

By Bus

Greyhound or FlixBus will drop you off at Old Town (2728 Congress St, San Diego, CA 92110). From there, take the Green Line Trolly from Old Towne to the Convention Center Station. Once you get off the Trolly, walk straight up Fifth Avenue. We are located between G Street and F Street on the left side of the street between the restaurants Panavino and Asti.

Where can I park?

Being in the heart of the Gaslamp is awesome becuase you can walk to restaurants, bars, clubs, shops, the Convention Center, Petco Park, and more; However, it can make parking a challenge. Like many of the businesses here, we do not have our own parking, but we still have some solutions for you! 

Rent a Parking Pass From Us

Rent a parking pass from us – $20 per night or $130 per week, you’ll get parking in a monitored garage just 1 1/2 blocks away and have 24 hour in-and-out privileges. No other parking lot/garage in the area has a better deal.

 

To reserve, you must contact us in advance so we can confirm availability. We also put a $50 hold on your credit card that is lifted when the parking pass is returned at check out (11 am). 

Park It On Market Parking Garage

Park It on Market. You can enter from 6th or 7th Avenues. $1 per hour from 3 am to 6 pm. $5 from 6 pm to 3 am Mon-Thurs. $10 on Friday-Sunday. Each time you leave, you pay. During events though the pricing changes to $15 for 12 hours and then the $1 per hour rate kicks in again.

ABM Horton Plaza Parking Garage

ABN Parking at Horton Plaza. 8 pm to 5 am Sunday – Wednesday is $10, Thursday – Saturday $20. Then $2 per every 15 minutes or part thereof. Daily maximum is $48. Rates are increased during special events. 

Metered Street Parking

Metered street parking is for 2 hour shifts only. Most meters are free after 10 pm until 10 am, but be SURE to check on the meter or street sign.

 

Please be aware that the city increased the parking rates during special events to $10 per hour, including the 2 hours prior to the start of the event and up to 4 hours after the event start. Unfortunately this will be in effect in a half mile radius of the baseball stadium which includes our area. 

How do I get around San Diego?
San Diego MTS bus

From the hostel, you can easily walk around the Gaslamp, Convention Center, Petco Park, Seaport Village, and other sites. But the San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park, and beaches are just a bus or trolley ride away!

 

San Diego's Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) offers a low cost way to get around the city. 

Adult fare: $2.50 each trip

Day pass: $6.00

You can pay with exact change on the buses, buy a PRONTO card, or download the PRONTO app. You can also pay with credit/debit card or mobile wallet.
