The Hillcrest Farmers Market 👑

When: Sundays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Where: Normal Street between University Avenue and Lincoln Avenue.

Often touted as one of San Diego's largest and most diverse farmers' market, the Hillcrest Farmers Market is a Sunday staple for locals and visitors alike. With over 175 vendors, this market is an absolute feast for the senses. You'll find an incredible variety of certified organic produce, fresh flowers, and artisan food products like local honey, sauces, and baked goods. But it’s the sheer scale and variety of prepared food options that make it truly stand out. From international cuisine to fresh-squeezed juices and gourmet tacos, it’s a perfect spot to grab brunch and explore a huge selection of crafts and gifts.

The Little Italy Mercato

When: Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Where: West Date Street in Little Italy.

This market is San Diego’s most iconic and beautiful. The Saturday market stretches for six city blocks, completely transforming the streets of Little Italy into a vibrant hub of activity. While it may not be as large in terms of vendor count as Hillcrest, its prime location and bustling European-market atmosphere make it a must-visit. You'll find a massive selection of certified organic produce, fresh-baked bread, artisanal cheeses, and a wide variety of prepared foods. The Wednesday market is a smaller, more intimate version, perfect for a mid-week restock.
